Establishment of diplomatic relations: July 8, 1992
The Embassy of Ukraine in the United Republic of Tanzania began its operations in December 2024 in Dar es Salaam. The Head of the diplomatic mission is Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya, Mr. Andriy Pravednyk, who has also been appointed as Ambassador to Tanzania concurrently (since July 30, 2021). The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania to Ukraine operates concurrently from Stockholm, Sweden.
High-Level Bilateral Contacts
On October 26, 2023, during the 147th Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation led by the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mr. Oleksandr Korniyenko, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, Mr. January Makamba, and the Speaker of the Tanzanian Parliament, Ms. Tulia Ackson.
On November 1, 2023, a group of Members of the Ukrainian Parliament visited Tanzania. Ukrainian lawmakers held meetings with the Tanzania–Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania, Mr. Samuel Shelukindo.
On November 20, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. Dmytro Kuleba, held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, Mr. January Makamba.
On May 28, 2024, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mr. Ruslan Stefanchuk, had a telephone conversation with the Speaker of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ms. Tulia Ackson.
On April 11, 2025, within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (Türkiye), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. Andriy Sybiha, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, Mr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.
Legal Framework
The only bilateral document signed between Ukraine and Tanzania is the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations (April 14, 1992).
